Our client, an NHS organisation, based in the North West of England, is seeking to recruit a Capital Projects Officer on a substantive basis.

Key responsibilities:

  • Manage Capital projects involving the relocation of clinical and non-clinical departments within the Trust.
  • Provide and communicate specialist building and engineering information and advice to senior managers encompassing legal requirements, healthcare technical memorandums guidance and British / European standards relating to capital projects.
  • Undertake detailed presentations, sometimes containing sensitive and contentious issues, to senior managers, various staff groups, regulators, statutory bodies, and internal & external stakeholder groups in respect of capital projects.
  • Lead capital projects through the conceptual design, construction and commissioning phases to ensure the whole life costs and the long-term maintenance of building & engineering elements are considered.
  • Engage and advise stakeholders to ensure project quality is in line with national healthcare standards, e.g. (Health Technical Memorandum (HTM) , Health Building Notes (HBN), Building Regulations, relevant law and regulations for electrical and ventilation and water and other mechanical and asbestos safety, relevant guidance from the Health & Safety Executive and other external bodies, and CQC recommendations.
  • Provide a daily lead role in resolving contractor disputes and responsible for the resolution of unforeseen problems on site and monitoring of contractor’s performance, including issuing instructions and supervision of building site activities.


Skills required:

  • Professional knowledge gained through considerable experience of working in engineering or building services / installation in a Management position.
  • Significant experience in managing teams at a senior level.
  • Specialist experience in project management.
  • Specialist knowledge of Building and Planning regulations.
