Our client, an NHS organisation, based in the South East, is seeking to recruit an Interim Deputy Director of Finance for an initial 3-6 months.

Key responsibilities

  • Responsible for the day-to-day management of the Finance Department and act as the designated budget holder for the Department.
  • Ensure the Finance Department is staffed with appropriately qualified individuals whilst remaining within available funds and cognisant of benchmarking.
  • Ensure the commitments made by the Director of Finance with regard to Future Focussed Finance are delivered.
  • Encourage wide development opportunities for staff at all levels encouraging professional qualifications and continuing professional development.
  • Facilitate and co-ordinate the strategic direction and operational delivery of the Finance Department.
  • Ensure that the Trust has in place an annual financial plan, covering all aspects of financial management, including income and expenditure, capital investment, balance sheet control and cash management, consistent with the wider financial plan and submissions to NHSE/I and other regulators.
  • Lead the Trust’s strategic financial planning (medium term and long term financial models), annual budgeting process and the monitoring and reporting of performance against budget throughout the year, including expenditure, income, cash and cost improvement plans.

Requirements

  • CCAB (Consultancy Committee of Accountancy Bodies) Qualification or CIMA.
  • Demonstrated expertise in a Healthcare environment, preferably in an acute setting.
  • Significant management experience at senior level in the NHS or other public healthcare related industry.
  • Experience of identifying and delivering cost improvement plans / efficiency savings programmes.
