Our client an NHS Organisation, based in Wales seeks to recruit an Interim Assistant Director/Deputy Board Secretary for an initial period of 4 months.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • The post holder will deputise for the Board Secretary on all other areas of Governance, and Assurance and act in his/her place as required including representation at Board level including acting as Board Secretary at Board meetings, and external meetings to the Health Board; The postholder will also participate on the on-call rota.
  • The post holder will have responsibility for the strategic development and management of the organisation’s arrangements for Board governance and assurance set out by Welsh Government, NHS and legislative requirements.
  • The post holder will have responsibility for the strategic development and management of the organisation’s arrangements for responding to requests for governance information set out by national and legislative requirements.
  • To provide strong visible, strategic, and credible leadership by demonstrating highly developed interpersonal skills to gain the trust and confidences of those the post holder needs to work with.
  • To act as an Ambassador of the Health Board, modelling the behaviours and values set out within the Code of Conduct for managers.
  • To deputise for the Board Secretary in areas of governance risk management when appropriate with delegated authority to act for them and to commit to the delivery of national and local strategy and policy, which will ensure the objectives of the Board are promoted and implemented.
  • To be the lead specialist on Standing Orders and other NHS related legislation, ensuring that the Health Board complies with legislation in relation to the law.

Key Requirements:

  • Significant evidence of NHS organisation experience at or senior level providing strategic advice.
  • Proven track record of successful project management /performance improvement.
  • Experience of writing concise and effective reports at Board level.
